SITA, a global leader in air transport technology, has once again been chosen by Philippine Airlines (PAL) to oversee and enhance its network infrastructure and end-user computing (EUC) solutions for the next five years. This agreement strengthens a partnership that began a decade ago with the signing of the first Master Contract, reflecting the strong collaboration between the two organizations.
Under the renewed agreement, PAL will adopt a range of SITA’s advanced solutions, including WiFi connectivity, end-user workplace management services, and SITA messaging. Additionally, the airline will implement SITA’s Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technology, supported by Cloud Secure Service Edge (Cloud SSE), at both airport and off-site locations. These upgrades aim to improve connectivity, ensuring seamless and reliable operations across all touchpoints.
As part of its digital transformation journey, PAL seeks to modernize its global network infrastructure by integrating SASE technology. This strategic move is designed to optimize service quality, reduce operational costs through innovative solutions, ensure uninterrupted business operations, and boost overall efficiency. The comprehensive solution, secured and streamlined by a single vendor, will deliver an enhanced user experience through a unified network and security system. The project will extend across 77 network sites, including the addition of 15 new locations.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in Philippine Airlines’ commitment to innovation and excellence in customer service, solidifying its position as a forward-thinking airline.
“The renewal of our long-standing partnership with Philippine Airlines clearly reaffirms our leadership in delivering unique network infrastructure and innovative technology solutions for the aviation industry,” said Sumesh Patel, President of SITA APAC. “Our integration of connectivity and security technologies will enhance the efficiency and reliability of Philippine Airlines’ operations, setting a new benchmark for digital transformation in the region.”
Philippine Airlines (PAL) has received commendation for its exceptional operational performance, earning the title of the most punctual airline in the Asia-Pacific region for January 2024. According to the Cirium On-Time Performance Report, an impressive 86.85% of PAL’s flights reached their destinations as scheduled, showcasing the airline’s dedication to reliability and efficiency.
Captain Stanley Ng, President and Chief Operating Officer of Philippine Airlines Inc., stated, “Our renewed partnership with SITA is a pivotal step in our ongoing digital transformation journey. By integrating advanced technology solutions, we are committed to enhancing our operational efficiency, security, and passenger experience. This collaboration supports our strategic goals and reaffirms our dedication to providing reliable and innovative services to our passengers.”
This partnership aligns perfectly with Philippine Airlines’ 2024 strategic goals to upgrade and fortify its IT network and related systems. Moreover, PAL has been an active member and shareholder of SITA SC, the Belgian cooperative serving as the parent company of the SITA Group, since June 17, 1952. This year commemorates 72 years of this longstanding and collaborative relationship.
