i just saw on the news a few mins. ago about this lady auctioned off her hair for extra money. she'd lost her job and really needed the 2 thousand and some dollars she got for it. how cool. i would do it except mine is not that healthy and its mostly grey under the coloringlol. i tried going to hairtrader.com where she said it was auctioned and also to foxnews to see if i could send a link for anyone to go to. sorry to say i couldnt find it, but if i did mylot would probably delete this discussion anyway. so if you find it maybe just say where its located. this is quite a good idea tho for gals and guys out there that could do this to get money they need. sorry im on a roll with these discussions. some days here i just love mylot and you all so much i cant stop rasp

hello bunnybon how cool is that to auction off your hair like that and how much money did she make? two thousand dollars? oh my gosh! but sorry to say that i am in the same boat that you are in as grey hairs through my hair these days. i go once about every three or four months to have my hair dyed back to the brunette color that it is supposed to be. but that would be great if i could cut my hair like that and auction it off and sell it for two thousand plus dollars. and that is good that you are starting new discussions around here at Mylot. lol it gives us all something to do, right? take care and have a beautiful evening. [TnWoman]
Hello bunnybon7, You are very kind to think of donating money to others in this way. Very good idea. [HelloMickey]
I JUST CUT MY HAIR! i wish i would have known this sooner! now i guess i will just have to wait till it grows out. But do you know if you have to have a certain kind of hair to sell well? Because I've always been told that I have beautful hair, so maybe i will look at the website, grow my hair out, and see how much money i can make :) Thanks for sharing! [delrealmonica]
i would certainly do that if i were you. its a good way to make money in this economy. its either hairtrader.com or hairtraders. com. i went to the first site to see and couldnt find any auctionssad [bunnybon7]
wish i'd known people were buying hair when i had the beauty shop. lol [ANTIQUELADY]
it's probably because they want all one color w/lenght to it. we have people donating their long hair to locks for love, i believe is what it's called. they make wigs for children w/cancer that have lost their hair, i cut hair for 47 years so i could have saved up a bunch. lol [ANTIQUELADY]
ew i would nvr do that. i love my hair. [KitBby]
well i guess some people just figure it will grow out again and they need the money [bunnybon7]
Thats so cool. i keep my hair short so it's too short to try and sell but that is pretty cool... the website your talking about is "hehairtrader" dot com. i googled hairtrader and found it. so i think thats it anyway. [sameroad]
thanks sameroad, i hope someone can get some use of this info. [bunnybon7]
Hi bunnybon7, Well why not? people makees hair extentions wwith real hair and selling their is godd idea, I can't do it as I have only short hair. Tamara [tamarafireheart]
yes i have a problem with mine growing out sometimes to. [bunnybon7]
Hello bunnybon, How cool is that I didn't know you could get that much for selling your hair. I probably wouldn't get much for mine either it is very damaged from coloring it too much. We have something like that here through a church but it is for children cutting their hair for cancer patients. They don't get any money for it it is a charity. But it would be so nice if they did give money to the children too at least a gift card to go somewhere to buy something. Have a nice day and thank you for posting this. That is very interresting. Have a wonderful day. [patriciaqualls]
thanks. yes its probably better to donate it but i just thought some people may need money for food or car, house, etc. [bunnybon7]
Haha, that's awfully interesting. I need some moneeyy. I wonder if my hair is worth anything. Prolly' not! Who would pay that much for hair? Geesh! [LouieWpHs04]
it depends on how long and how healthy probably [bunnybon7]
Hi bunny! I think that in order to sell your hair it would really have to be thick and in excellent condition. I find it hard to believe that someone would pay that much money for hair to begin with. Do you know that there is another way to do something more important with hair then sell it? Hair can be given to a site for cancer victims who need it. They use the hair to make wigs. This seems like a much better use for human hair then selling it. I understand that people need money but think of the children who have lost their hair to cancer. [Opal26]
oh your right. i guess theres just so much bad economy today some people need the money desperately. i dont need it that bad. i'd probably donate it if it was young and healthy. [bunnybon7]
Well, I cannot imagine selling my hair and getting much for it. Even if I could there is no way I could personally do it. Even the people that grow their hair for Locks of Humanity or something like that, personally I cannot imagine and could not do this. I have long hair by Religious choice, so it would not be something I could do. [KrauseHome]
yes i understand. several of my aunts and cousins keep long hair for religious purposes. [bunnybon7]
i cant picture some one making a lot of money off of their hair.. but my hair isnt awesome so maybe thats why [moonlitmagikchild]
lol thanks.. mines unruly.. drives me nuts because it has enough wave in it to where it wont stay put or do anything i want it to.. if i leave it down after brushing it 5 minutes later its a tangled mess no matter if its in healthy condition or what kind of shampoo i use.. its gotten better over the years but still annoys me.. but during the times i dyed my hair it was really crazy [moonlitmagikchild]
lol.. that's interesting [jd107nette]
yes i thoght so. [bunnybon7]
If I had long hair again, I would do what many people are doing and having their hair cut for Locks of Love. They make wigs for cancer patients out of the hair and I think that is a great thing that they do. [nanajanet]
it sre is. thats probably what i would do. [bunnybon7]
Wow! that was alot of money for hair she must have had alot of it. I have heard of people donating for cancer patients but you rarely hear about people selling their hair and for that whopping much..buys alot of food for your kids and pays bills for maybe 2 months or so. Here is a link I found that is what your talking about. I think http://www.thehairtrader.com/ Hair has been sold for more the n $2,000 almost $3,000 wow.. answering from email so sorry if I am only posting what others have already [mtdewgurl74]
Your most welcome. I had to dig a bit for it but it was worth it for someone who needed it. Well, it is one good insinuative reason to take care of your hair and use good products to reduce damage. If I had healthy hair I would be there selling mine right now...lol [mtdewgurl74]
I think that is a great thing to do if you are short on cash. [rogue13xmen13]
and many young people need the money [bunnybon7]
I have very long hair and I love it, and I don't want to cut it. But if I ever decided to chop it real short I wouldn't sell it, but I would donate it to one of the organizations that makes real hair wigs for women with cancer. I know that it would be more important than money to do something really good to help someone. XOXO [busibee]
yes it would be a good feeling in your heart. [bunnybon7]
SELLING HAIR?! what in the world are people these days thinking? but it is really cool to sell some hair. did she get $2000 for the hair? it's a pity my hair's all cut short now. maybe i could just pop my head into the nearest hairdresser shop and start offering to sweep the hair off the floor :) i wonder if those hair would be worth anything [seven74]
lol very funny. i guess a lot of people are thinking that now. [bunnybon7]
well it's not new for me , i used to sell me hair also at my 13 years old, there are some man come to the villege to ask whose house have a long hair man and try to persuad them to sell the hair to him/her. sometimes people think their hair is really too long to bear and wash. some one with the wish to change the hair style, so, they sell the hair to the purchser , but the money you can gain by selling hair are really too little in my location, does sell hair would do some help to the woman you named? may god bless her/ [celebratelifeh]
on the news she said she had lost her job, had children and it helped pay her rent and buy food and pay some xmas bills. [bunnybon7]
I am surprised for that she could sell her hair. but I am just a little bit confused for her hair could be worth than 2000 dollars. I guess she maybe had a long and special hair. [Thomasyanghua]
from what i understand it just has to be healthy and a fair length. likely you get paid by volume. [bunnybon7]
whoa! hell n0! i will never sell my hair! i love my hair so much! it's my crowning glory..hihihi..^_^ [hershiez]
a lot of people would not for different reasons. [bunnybon7]
Yes you can indeed earn money by selling your hair provided that your hair has not been to any chemical application, in other words a hair that is pretty natural. we have that here too, particularly parlors, they will buy a nice long hair and they will price it according to the length. I have learned it from a friend near a village when she told me i can sell my hair and i can't believe it that time til i prove it myself that it is indeed true. very cool! [cheenlly]
so i guess you have sold yours? i figured it depended on volume [bunnybon7]
That is pretty cool. I honestly don't think I could sell my hair, for any amount. If I ever get it to the length I want. But that is alot of money and pretty neat that people are willing to pay that much. I have alot of friends that donate their hair to locks for love. If I were going to chop off my hair, I would much more prefer to donate it to that cause. [22angel22]
im sure thats better if you arent in dire need. [bunnybon7]
LMAO! I might have to take a look at that. I will go and check it out. Every once in a while my hair grows out long and I used to donate it, but I decided I was just going to start cutting it before it gets long cuz it's a pain to maintiain. However, if I can get some cash for it, it may be worth to sell. I'll look. [zhuuraan]
yes like i said some people need the money badly right now to survive [bunnybon7]
hi bunnyon7 i'm also a bit long in the tooth with grey hair so not likely to even try selling it. Your discussion got me thinking though... on a lighter note...about loads of rich baldies walking about LOL but then a more sinister and drastic thought about what people sell for money crept into my mind... body parts! It's sad that people have to go to such lengths to gain a few bucks! Alice [Aliceinwebland]
more than sad... drastic! [Aliceinwebland]
Brilliant that this lady was able to make so much money from selling her hair. I suppose healthy hair would be in demand from wigmakers who don't want to use fake hair. Like yours, mine is quite grey underneath the hair colour so, it wouldn't be of much value to anyone and I'd look awful with short hair anyway. I do remember a cutesy Christmas movie from years ago. I think it was called "A Gift of Love". Both halves of the couple were really poor but wanted to give the other a special Christmas gift. The girl sold her lovely hair to buy a chain for her partner's fob watch but, meanwhile, the guy had sold his fobwatch to buy a pretty comb for his girlfriend's hair. By the way, myLot encourages relevant links. The TOS only says they will delete discussions that contain links that are not relevant to the discussion. [Piscesmoon]
oh yes. that story is one of my favorite O'Henry stories. he was quite the story teller/author. [bunnybon7]
I've never heard of that. I never let mine get long enough to sell or give any goodly amount away. My sil gives hers to Locks Of Love. LofL makes wigs for children who have had cancer or some disease that may have made them lose their hair. It's a great place to give your cut hair to. They only require that it be at least 10 inches in length. [Irishfrndly65]
as i've said thats also a very good idea. just think some are desperate for money these days [bunnybon7]
Too bad I chopped off about 12 inches about a year and a half ago. My hair was really damaged from over-dying anyway, don't think anyone would want it. LOL. But that would have been nice to donate, even if I didn't receive any money. [ABrokenNail]
im not sure if they would let you donate it. would they? [bunnybon7]
I guess it would be a good idea, I am more the kind of person that would give my hair away instead of selling it though. [winterose]
i kind of figured you be thoughtful like that. but some need money for their kids i think [bunnybon7]
Yes, I also found a news about such news at mylot or somewhere that someone selling their hairs but sorry to say that I have not bookmarked that and forgotten now. I agree with you that it is a good idea to have some money during a measurable time. I think we have no such good scope in my country becuase this type business is not so much popular here. [MdImranHossain]
oh yes i had a friend do that. [bunnybon7]
I don't think myLot would delete the discussion for posting that link. It's only links to other PTP or PTC sites or those similar to myLot where you have to sign up to join. I have kept 2 lots of hair when I had my long hair cut short. I believe there is someplace that buys it here in Australia to make wigs for cancer patients. I'm not sure though, it might be a case of we are expected to donate it. I'll suss it out..keep meaning to then forgetting. [MsTickle]
i guess it depends on how bad a person needs the money whether they donate or sell. [bunnybon7]
Don't worry bunnybon7, all terms and conditions are well including suggestions for where to market our hair are stated on this site; How to sell your hair for cash ; http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/smartspending/archive/2008/05/15/how-to-sell-your-hair-for-cash.aspx I think afterward nobody will treated their hair with any artificial hair chemical, will take care grow their hair healthily at least 10 inches per strand. Another thing is, they won't buy any shampooed hair...LOL!. Drug intake also accountable for quality hair that they need. The quality criteria depends on the color, length and quality of our hair as what has been done by Fantine; where she got &1,000 in just a week. Emmm!...worth it paying $20 for the first ads on that site, very high return on investment. Hair make money and money make living, fair and square. [michaeldadona]
hahaha!...dear good friend, bunnybon7; don't worry about that and am very happy to have your comment to my response, highly appreciated. About my new discussion, for the time being I think there will be none as I am concentrating on responding to "new user" and dwnr discussions for my networking after found no more friends discussion notification in my email inbox. Happy myLotting, bunnybon7. [michaeldadona]
Wow, its great to hear this news... I wish i could also auction my hair... by the way hoe much did she earn from her hair. if you find the link on the site, please send me the link also. let me go through it once. [subhakars]
on back in this discussion friends have left a link. you can go there. [bunnybon7]
I didn't know that you could auction your hair but I don't think I would. I've donated mine three times to Locks of Love to make hair pieces for people who lose their hair for medical reasons and couldn't afford the pieces otherwise. My four year old granddaughter just had her hair cut for the first time a few weeks ago and donated her hair to them as well. You wouldn't think that a four year old would have hair long enough but she's tall for her age (4 ft tall) and her hair was so long she was sitting on it. Now it's shoulder length and she still had enough to donate. happy [KatieDidit]
oh how nice. very sweet. [bunnybon7]
I appreciate u for posting Sell ur hair comment. You know what, one day I got a strange idea that one day body fat would actually be in demand. What with women trying to get breast augmentations and butt jobs..... I'm pretty sure that those who have nothing at all to work with from the beginning will be needing to purchase some fat from someone that is a little bit chunkier. Well if anybody happen to hear about this going around, please contact me and let me know, I got a little bit that I would like to get rid of, lols. I love this site too and ur right, sometimes it can really get to be addictive. I just hope that my money comes out right. Do you know yet how they are able to figure up how much to pay us? I would appreciate hearing comments from anyone. Thanks and have a great day all! [Citychic]
Thanks Bunnybon:), haven't gotten any calls for my extra fat yet, lols! Maybe they'll be calling soon, hee hee hee. [Citychic]
Yes, it's reala cool idea to sell your hair if you are in an emergency. But I wonder what we feel like after we lose our hair for which we had cared for so many years...may be some consolation in the fact that it will grow back, if we have time for it. Good discussion. [ashjoe76]
thank you. yes some will probably need the money before this is over. [bunnybon7]
This is pretty cool, I don't know there are even someone buying hair. But why they want the hair? Is it for any purpose? There was once when I cut my long hair, and I just kept it for memory or for fun. After a few years later, when I saw my long hair, I felt quite scary, though it's my own hair. lol [kaka135]
yes we often saved our long hair tresses in the past. today tho they will buy it for wigs or it can be donated for cancer patients [bunnybon7]
you should check out http://www.OnlineHairAffair.com they are the best site around to sell your hair. Its like ebay but for hair only = ) [OnlineHairAffair]
wow. so you got your own site about the hair thing. thats cool. [bunnybon7]
Auctioned off my hair for money?? hahahahah..Good idea but NO~~ NOT MY HAIR!!...My wonderful silky black hair~~ Xp lol I can't believe our hair has a value to it, sounds pretty weird to me..I guess they're used to make wigs? I wonder if we'd get more money if we sell extremely healthy hair to them..haha ^_^ [mira91]
oh yes. they want healthier hair. they are used for wigs, extentions, weaves, etc. [bunnybon7]

stop sending linksthumbdown you will get me deleted on this discussion.sad [bunnybon7]
i think hair is a sign of beauty that girls shall keep it . selling it is so cool when we mention. [yanxiaonuo]
thats very true. i just think that these ones who have really needed the money and it will grow back [bunnybon7]
If I had a long hair and I need money, I may consider of doing that as well. There is nothing wrong to sell your own hair as our hair grows back again. I think thats better rather than selling blood and other organs which are not healthy for the body. I used to be a hair model in some training beauty salons before but they didn't pay me, I just have a new hair cut for free thats all. [sophie_dfuss]
thats sad that you did not get any money also for your hair. [bunnybon7]
Hello bunnybon7 I didn't see this discussion before, I think the idea to sell our hair is very cool. But who would buy hair from us? If I can sell my hair, that's very cool I would have extra money. My hair grows very fast, so I think I could make huge amount of money if I sold my hair. [HelloMickey]
further back in this discussion several people have suggested places to go to sell your hair. it may depend on whats available where you live. [bunnybon7]
I think that the woman found herself in such dire needs to trade her hair for money. It is such a pity that she had to resort to such things. But if I was in her position I would do that myself. [ronaldinu]
yes me also if i had young healthy hairlol [bunnybon7]
Cool I know I have thought about auctioning off my hair myself. It is not long enough yet but mine has no dye in it. Which I think would sell better. I know in this tough times you can sell almost anything and make a little cash. Blood and or plasma is another way to make some money. Take care and happy mylotting to you as well. happy [momtrying2makeit]
thank you. perhaps your hair will grow long enough soon. [bunnybon7]
that is a cool idea. what are they using this hair for ? is it for cancer patients ? i have heard of that before .called love of locks or some thing like that but they do not pay you for the hair you donate it. [deedeehall]
yes if you dont need money its best to donate. these people that pay also use it for wigs i hear. [bunnybon7]
this is interesting idea. I will check it out. I don't know if my hair is healthy or not but checking it out could be fun :) [LittleMel]
the money I don't think so lol my hair is short now [LittleMel]
