I encountered this email recently, telling me that I won a megalotto lottery from Microsoft word in London. I was wondering because I did not participate for any megalotto lottery in the internet.
Now the payment agent is asking me some information like Bank account, bank code, address and mailing address and other documents. Would I submit these informations they are asking? Is this fraud or real? Please help. Thanks!

I receive those emails ALL the time! All I can do is laugh and hit the delete button. They're nothing but spam. If you wont the lottery, why would they be contacting you by email? And really, the chances of you having won THAT much money? [Jennlk84]
Earn money online free through searching google go 2 http://fly2.ws/rcc [rosecircle]
Do not give them any information, it is a scam. If you did not enter any competition, then how could you have won.confused Just ignore the email and any others like it. [thezone]
Always be weary of giving out your personal details to people you do not know online. All of the emails asking for your bank details and such are scams. Glad to be of help. [thezone]
This kind of mails come in often into my spam...please do not respond to these mails. In fact once I see the subject, i would just delete it off...I don't even take the time to open up the mail......would advise you to delete it off and ignore it. This is a fraud and scam...I mean just think how can one company give away so much money and not only do they send once but a few times....I was just telling my husand...waaahhhh if they were all real we would be filthy rich by now...I don't even have to earn anything or even myLot...I would be on holiday right now.....please please don't respond to these kind of mails.... [eagle_f15]
ya i got that email too. personally when i saw it i didnt even open it because i thought that it was a scam. when it comes to thing online that i didnt signup for i tend to delet them. i dont know why i got it but is kind of weid that they would be sending it to me. ya if some thing is asking for personal infromation like that its not a good idea to give it to them. most of the time they would just send it to you in the mail. i dont trust things that ask for my account number. if they were going to pay through paypal or some thing like that then i might but they dont. [phifer]
ditto I receive these all the time they are 10000000% fraud......don't even consider it. I called the BBB a couple of years back and they said it is fraud. don't give them any of your info throw it in the spam folder next time you get one!!! [sublimephoto1]
Delete this email! This a scam! When they start asking for personal information it is a scam! Never get involved in somebody sending you an email you won a lottery! They want all that infromation to fraud/scam you out of money! Once you start giving money they will keep asking and asking! You never see any so called winning! Delete the email and anymore you get or be scammed! [blue65packer]
Thank God I posted this discussion!I am very thankful to all your ideas. Yes, it is really fraud because I am also wondering why they will give that huge amount to people they did not know. I didn't remember anything that I join any lottery in the internet. Thank you so much to you all, may God bless you always! [jlamela]
hehe i receive hundreds of those before. they all say the same thing you won, congratulations, blah blah... don't send any info. if you did join for something then that may be the real deal. but if not, add to spam and delete! [monkeydoodledo]
When I get those emails I just delete them. They are noting but illegal scams. [dfollin]
you better check it first.. maybe you can find out the company/ institution which held the megalotto or maybe you can ask the person who call you the adress office so you can go there and ask directly.. [nekotama]
i delete it instantly as i know WHY ON EARTH WUD ANYBODY WUD LIKE TO GIVE AWAY MONEY SOOO EASILY??? no one wants to share their gold mines....so i guess its clear that if you havent subscribed then surely its a spam ! N NEVER SUBIT ANY DOCUMENTS...they can do ALOTTT on ur behalf using this/these documents ! -chirag [chipatil]
O dear, all kind of the email contain lottery winner and other subjects are SPAM/HOAX.. If I receive this kind of hoax, I will delete it instantly, NO EASY MONEY ... [ivbsav]
Load of times and still expecting to receive many in the future. It won't stop unless all those scammers will get busted. Don't believe such thing as all of that are scammers. It is a lie and never never give information especially your bank account information as that what they only needs. It will only take seconds for them to transfer your money from their account once they know your information or used your personal information to scam other people. Hope this helps. have a nice day and happy mylotting! [cheenlly]
Yes, in my yahoo mail, they all SCAM, i have followed and then i thinking, how can i win lottery even i not registered to their site. In the end they will told you to pay the offers of theirs programs. [cahyorini]
I also face the same problem of recieving such emails and that too from popular sites. Some mails may come into my inbox and others into my yahoo spam. They may be some kind of prank played by someone or by a hacker who is intended to get a personal benefit out of it. [junojose]
I have recieved just too many many mails of thee ypte of recent. Had they been tru i would have been a multi millionare by now. These people are scams and cheat people by taking thier particulars. Better to just delete the mails and report them. [alokn99]
Fortunately my mail account is set up so these go straight into the spam bin, so I rarely if ever come across any! Amazing isn't how much money money you could win regardless of the fact that you have entered any lottery and yet these people pray on innocent people who really think they have won and part with their hard earnt money for nothing! Never give out details to these people, I guess some people do otherwise the emails would stop and they must make a fortune out of people who really think they have won money, but don't. Very sad indeed. [wolfie34]
It's a popular way to advertise just like those animated banners you see that flash and say with some red text that you have won a million because you are a visitor number blablabla and you are going to be super rich now no scam here and so on but in reallity they are just out for your money. [tixepower]
I delete it immediately if i happen to receive lottery emails. I get them everyday as a spam, and since i am not interested on such game of chance, i do delete them from my inbox. I don't kow if other people get this message like a big deal or not, but for me, it is really a scam and i don't waste my time reading mails like these because for sure it's not worth it and it is a bogus. How can someone send me a letter informing i have won, quote and quote when in the first place, i don't indulge to such activities nor give any effort to join such sites too. Anyway i hope members here will not get themselves cheated by such claims of winning a big amount to strangers and to what is not reasonable. [strawberrychocodahi]
I received it several times. I tried them too. It's totally waste of time. They mainly want your money, your personal information or to be their member.I would say 99% of emails like that are not reliable. blossom [sblossom]
well i get that all the time and i never pay attention to it cause i know i never win anything evevn if i participated in it .its like i had this boon that i never win anything in a contest or lottery or game. [jhonymax2cool]
I've received the same email last year and I just ignored it. I think it's a scam because in the first place I've never even joined any contest organised by Microsoft. I think they got your email address from somewhere and just sent these messages. Please do not send your particulars. In fact I've received a few other emails telling me that I've won a large sum of money. Some of it states that in order to claim your winnings you've to pay a certain sum of money being processing fee or whatever (I can't recall exactly). It's all a scam. [rj1578]
This is completely fraud, and the moment i see these kind of mails either i delete them or mark them as spam. Some of my friends were cheated by this fraudulent plot thinking that it is a real lottery but when they gave all the personal information like name, age, bank account etc., agent asked for the fund tranfer charges so that he can deposit lottery money in the account and unfortunately when they did it, agent never turned back and they lost all the money. There should be some genuine one's out there in the market but hard to trust, so be careful. [pavan4568]
im sorry, but i suggest you will not accept that lottery until you research some thruthful information, i know nobody want make any mistake in this life, also iam, because i wont regret later. now i decide that i must reseach before decide or take action to do something, the source can be anywhere, like from my friend, family, other people, book, website, television, newspaper, etc.., also i try to look closer and deeper use heart and head, then try to look from the opposite view not only from mine, i hope then i can make a good decision that doesnt lead to bad result, I hope your or my experience become good information source for other reader (especially myloter). Because experience is a good teacher. its my answer to your discussion topic, i hope it doesnt miss from what you want. by the way, i think this is one of good discussion thread, i want to say, happy in mylot since iam happy in here, do activity like post discussion topic, post reply, make new friend, also i can get lot of usefull, precious, knowledge and information, once again, happy make money online and happy mylotting. lets make mylot greatest site. thanks for reading this. [galihhs]
I received similar letter and a lot of my friends also recieved the same letter. I did nothing about it, and later saw from media it is fraud. If you have not participate in the lottery, better forget about it. There is no free lunch, we must be very careful about our personal data. [zhuhuifen46]
SCAM ,SCAM ,SCAM !!! NIGERIAN Scamsters ! [quickcut96]
I've won about 100 of those lotteries. They are just scammers looking to access your personal information and back account. Don't give out information. It's best to just delete those messages. [di1159]
yes i got that email. is a scam from africa . beware. they trying to get your bank account to do a fake account on his country . [makeupartisteileen]
I am also facing same problem , I get 2-3 mails on each of my mails account. When this all started I was to annoyed but now I keep them for one week and then delete them in bulk. Today I got new kind of fraud mail , In it they asked my email id and password and if I don't give them they would delete my account. They claimed that they are authorities of yahoo. [nainesh1]
I have been receiving this for the past 3 years. The moment I see it I would delete the message. It is obviously a scam.I had also read somewhere that some person was asked to pay some money or so to receive a larger amount and eh obviously lost what he foolishly paid.I think I read this in a magazine. However, I do not know how far it is true.Sometimes people spin stories. But definitely this is a scam. [kalav56]
sorry read 'spam' for 'scam'. [kalav56]
don't respond to such emails or sms messages i receive them all the time, and they are all SCAMS! mostly scammers use such spam methods to get you to buy their products or sell you stuff and maybe even to steal your creditcard and account information!! be carefull, unless you participate in some lotteries! [sameeer]
I get these all the time. If only they were real... Never give your banking information to anyone unless you don't mind them taking money out of your account. My favorite email is the one where someone has died and left you a big inheritance. I went as far as to play this person's game not giving any personal information such as address or social security number not even a bank account. When the person believed I was hook line and sinker he asked for this information and I gave him the phone number of an FBI agent I talked to. Run away, run away fast! Total scam. [mommaj]
wahahha!very funny. Actually I am also thinking of giving them a wrong bank account and wrong address and all just to play with them because of their foolishness. Thanks to all your advises. Great help!God bless you [jlamela]
Many times I just ignore them even in text they told me I won in a lottery. It is a scam so I don't believe them because I never joined anything so why would I won. When you believe them they asking you to pay some amount before you can claim your prize. My advice is use our common sense if we are not joining any contest how come we are going to win. [agv0419]
I get emails very often telling me that I have won something. Since I know that I have never signed up for these types of things, I always delete them. Most of them are spam anyway. You have to be careful, I have heard that some of those things are just viruses waiting for you to open them so they can get into your computer. Just open with caution! [enhopey]
no please comment on my discussions too thanks [Jamesyo62]
it might be please comment on my discussions too thanks [Jamesyo62]
Everytime I receive this kind of mail, I spam it and delete. It's not worth my time reading them. never believe in emails like this. You sill surely be scammed. [dorisday1971]
This happens to me all the time and i don't take it seriously. How could i win, when i don't have a lotto ticket? [mihopopcorn]
i delete anything that says i've won something when i havent registered with whoever sends the emaii, and even when i receive emails from sites i know, when they say you've won 1000 dollars gift card, im like yeah ok! you always have to complete some offer they have. so is not like i really won anything...dont lose your time! [claudiamac]
many are receiving these kind of mails. but surely, these are all fraud. i also tried replying to this certain mail saying that his father died and he needs to transfer half of the accounts to me and the lawyer will contact me soon. but i got a reply telling me to send my bank account numbers etc. i know this is not for real, but i just tried it. i am just curios why they are doing this or why they are making an effort to trick people, people are aware now about this fraud. and the lottery thing, it is nice to know we won, but the problem is...we did not join any lottery or bought any ticket. that is so untrue. don't believe them. [donnakristel]
just disregard it,it's a trick.many people received such emails, you search through Google or Yahoo and you will see that many people encountered such emails,I also received a mail which I guess is exactly the one you got because it also mentioned Microsoft. [ktosea]
Well I have to admit, I'm a victim, but whenever they start asking for money I would spam them. And now I never believe anymore, I usually browse them over the net, and found similar stuffs goin on with other people and authorities warning us with new tactics and latest scams. Thanks for the internet, perhaps I would still be having hopes that one day it's true. ^^ [veronicalodge12]
Everyday I used to receive one or two such emails, stating that my mail id has been randomly chosen as the winner of some huge amount. They will be asking our personal details also.Nowadays, I will not even read them ,I will just delete them once i realize it is of such content. [kumarpslv]
Just DELETE it!!! I know that wont be true! I dont ever trust!!! [Setto24]
Hi jlamela, I do receive such type of rubbish emails frequently. No matter how many I have deleted they still keep on sending to my mailbox. It's really annoying and irritating. I know what they want from us is money. I was told that after we have submitted the required information, they will ask us to send a certain amount of money for transaction commission charge. We could just imagine how great amount of money they will collect from the commission charge if thousands or more of people involving in this. Definitely they will get lost after receiving the said commission. All of them are fraudulent emails, so delete them straight away whenever they occur in the mailbox. Take care and happy happy posting. [lkbooi]
They are all cheating mails. How can you win in a lottery draw when you haven't bought any ticket. There is nothing in the world that comes for free. Beware of these mails and do not give them any information about your self. [nainesh1]
Hi jlamela I am working in a bank and I have encautered amny people being scammed in this way. Please do not respond to any emails or phone calls that says you have won a lottery. Money does not come just as simple as that. Those people who scam you are people who think they are smart. Please make them know they are stupid fools. It is definately a fraud. Never trust it. If they want to give you ask them to give you cash. They will run away from you then. LOL Thanusha [thanusha85]
Many times I recieve this kind of emails in my account .. I simply ignore them & delet them... its a fake massage by many webmasters who just spam in the public and making people fool and trying to get thier personal informatiopns like thier address ,, cell phone numbers, other email accounts , bank account numbers and passwords. So never respond to this kind of emails. [rocky_rockbottom]
Hi Jlamela, I get this junk kind of emails nearly everyday and some emails from some bankers in Africa trying to con me in to getting money out of Africa. About the lottery yes i have and many a times they try to tell me it is Yahoo or Hotmail which is the admin of these lotteries and first when i got the mail i got real excited and then i read the mail i think over million times as i won nearly close to a million $ which i wont ever earn in my whole life, then i consulted my friends and they too had got the same mail so my enthusiasm got punctured and i deleted the mail. I do click delete button now without even reading them. but i wish it was true. [agrim94]
Check the EMAIL PROVIDER FIRST, when it is registered in email betas like GMAIL or HOTMAIL, it is fake. Just reply WHATEVER so that they will know that your not interested cause this scams came from 3 biggest email syndicates. [prinzechristian]
